About Us

The Florida Public Relations Association is the oldest public relations trade association in the United States. FPRA was founded in 1938 by Lt. Col. John W. Dillin who was the publicity director for the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce at the time.

With a history that spans more than 80 years, FPRA has developed a rich legacy of professional development, leadership growth and opportunities, networking, professional credentialing and opportunities for professional recognition for public relations, communications and marketing professionals throughout the country.

FPRA members come from many backgrounds – private and public corporations, government entities, non-profit organizations and counseling firms – but they share the common goal of enhancing the public relations profession through ethical and standardized practices.

We are comprised of 15 professional chapters and 14 student chapters conveniently located throughout Florida. And while we are predominately a state trade association, we have “at-large” members throughout the United States.

Our Mission

The Florida Public Relations Association is dedicated to developing public relations practitioners who, through ethical and standardized practices, enhance the public relations profession in Florida.
