Individual Professional Members pay for and own their memberships. To qualify for FPRA membership, these members must be professionally qualified by education or experience and devote at least 50 percent of their working time to public relations or communication activities.

What is an Institutional Professional Membership?

Institutional Professional Members are when the employer pays for their staff member's membership dues, and the institution owns the memberships. It can be transferred to another qualified professional at the paying institution. These members must be professionally qualified by education or experience and devote at least 50 percent of their working time to public relations or communication activities to qualify for FPRA membership.

What is an Institutional Professional Group Membership?

This is like an Institutional Professional Membership (the employer pays for and owns the membership) but provides a discount for two or more members at the same organization. Institutions with multi-professional institutional memberships also receive a discount on FPRA's annual conference when they send more than one member. Like an Institutional Professional Membership, this membership belongs to the institution, not the individual named as the member.

Do I qualify for the student membership rate?

To qualify for the student membership rate, any undergraduate who is not currently employed as a full-time public relations or communications professional and who is enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing studies in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field and/or who demonstrates an interest in pursuing a career in public relations or communications shall be eligible for student membership.

I used to be a member, but my membership lapsed. Should I renew or purchase a new membership?

If your membership lapsed less than one year ago, you may purchase a renewal. For assistance with this renewal, please contact the State Office

If your membership lapsed more than a year ago and you desire a continuous membership record, the former member may be reinstated on showing proof of qualification and paying all dues in arrears.

If your membership lapsed over a year ago and you don’t care about retaining your original membership start date, you must apply as a new member.

How long is my membership?

Membership terms are good for one year.
